Ashley McKenzie was selected to represent Great Britain at this event. In a tough first contest against the Uzbekhistan fighter Sobirov (Olympic bronze medallist) Ashley began aggressively. The match was fast and dynamic, but in the end Ashley lost on small scores and as the Grand Slam format is straight knock out that is where his day ended.
