BRONZE Ashley McKenzie
Ashley started his campaign with a bye, always feels good! Then to Pions of Spain, who has lost to Ash on 2 previous occasions. Ashley threw him for ippon and moved on to Ottaviani of France. Having been leading the contest by waza-ari Ash was caught for ippon and had to be content with a repecharge place.
There he dispatched the Slovenian before taking on the Ukranian, Laskuta for the bronze. Ashley's form was good, throwing Laskuta for waza-ari and then ippon.
This is Willesden Judo Club's best medal to date. Ashley deserves to be he recipient of it for the hard work he has put in and for the resilience he has shown in recent months and years. Well done Ash, we are so proud of you.
