Lee Shinkin was selected to represent GBR at this prestigious tournament.
He had three fights, defeating Kryvasheu BLR by Ippon in 18 seconds, then Huang TPE by Ippon in 1min 44 sec. He then lost to Danculea ROM (Junior European silver 2004 and bronze 2003) by a Chui. Danculea then lost to Akimoto JPN (eventual champion) in the quarter-final which put Lee out. (Danculea won bronze).
Lee was Britain's best male fighter.
